Clumsy & Clumsiest in action
Or: The Untoolables vs. the drill
Or: Our weekend
We discovered the cutest little antique store in The Hague. Originally we went in there to find my mom a birthday gift. But everything in there said; buy me, buy ME, Meeheeee! It was hard but we could withhold from buying the entire store and found a cute mirror/ coat hanger on sale; which we needed for ages. No more: "Oh, you can leave you coat on the table, we are to lazy to buy coathooks".
Now we had to hang it on the wall.
My father did not exactly pass along the bob-the-builder gene my grandfather had. Mr. Sweety did inherent the two left hands of his father. Clumsy & Clumsiest in action. A Casa Sweety Tool Challenge: All thinkable tools and cheating are allowed.
My grandfather did leave me a drill. So we used that and a gazillion different screwdrivers. When the screws wouldn’t go in the plug in the wall any further we used a hammer; with the risk of screwing up the screw system. When it was too far in *insert &^@*# and bwahahahaha* we used some pliers to pull the screw a little bit back out again.

But it hangs! Yay!

*tiptoeing away from the tool scene, praying the mirror coat thing will stay on the wall*
What did we win by beating this challenge???
A new pair of flip-flops

Now did I deserve that or what????
Mr. Sweety? I know he worked hard too! He can watch me in these flip-flops.
A new CD!

Maroon 5 finally made it across the pond!
Mr. Sweety? Okay he’s no big fan of Maroon 5. He thinks they’re OK. OK will have to do honey!
A yummy pancake breakfast
Today we made pancakes for breakfast. Leah asked me if we differentiate between US pancakes and Dutch pancakes (pannekoeken). Yes we do! Dutch pannekoeken look & taste very different from US pancakes. Also Ducth pannekoeken are NOT eaten for breakfast but for dinner (or lunch).
Nachos cheese dinner

A well deserved easy dinner; for two
Alas, our weekend is almost over. Hope you’re all enjoying your 4th of July weekend!

Those are some trippy pancakes you did up! They look like oversized Ruffles potato chips!
The pankoeken? Look more or less like a crepe. You Dutch have some interesting food. I watch Food TV network in the US, and there's this girl, Rachel Ray, who travels to various cities trying to show how you can eat out (3 meals in a day) for under $40 a day. She did Am'dam once, and there was this one restaurant with very interesting sandwiches. They required a knife and fork, and if I remember correctly, it was like several sides and the main dish were arranged on a giant piece of bread with another covering it. Hard to explain, but apparently it was patently Dutch.
Anyhow, nice pictures. I need pics for my blog.

I was also going to say they looked like potato chips!! lmao
Pankakor, as we call them in Sweden...
I don't know how your panckes are, but I don't like Swedish pancakes. Well, they're OK. But they are like Crepes. They're flat and flavorless. Just flour basically. And Swedes eat them with "sylt" (Jam. Usually Rasberry) and "grädde" (cream, sometimes whipped).
I don't care for them. I'm not a jam or cream fan really. And the pancakes alone are dullsville.
So I make my own version of American pancakes. I make them without eggs (Daniel is allergic). I use flour, backing powder, vanilla sugar and milk, and they come out SOOOOO good. And luckly my supermarket sells American Style Maple Syrup. So Have them with syrup and butter, mmmm.
This past week we had a party in class before vacation. We all brought in food from our countries. I brought in the pancakes, syrup, butter and all. And they were a HIT. Everyone liked them better than Swedish ones LOL A few even got the recipe.
What's that you have on yours? Is that jam and butter?

Haha...you guys lack the ”Bob-the-Builder” gene, huh? Another example of U.S. influences crossing the globe...? Too funny. :) I love the new mirror/coat-hook. Now I'll have a place to hang my jacket when I come visit!

Wow . . . ripply pancakes :-) Usually, we make them on a flat griddle, but you can be excused ;-)
Pannekoeken, I think, are so great because of all the stuff you can put on them. If they're plain, they're kinda like crepes . . . but I think pannekoeken and crepes are way different. On my pannekoeken, I always piled lots of stuff. I think pineapple was my favorite fruit topping, and I loved bacon and cheese.
Your new mirror/coat hanger looks great! And Mr. Sweety looks so typically Dutch -- very cute :-)
