Or follow me, I’m your leader!

Dear manager,

This is my letter of resignation. I found myself a new job in Rome. I won’t be coming back to the office.

Sweety

BTW: If you ever want a tour in the Roman Colosseum, please let me know in advance so I can make sure my new colleagues kill you in a gladiator fight can show you around.

Okay, I WISH. Wouldn’t I make just the perfect tour guide?

We’re back home. Well actually, I’m writing this on the airplane, but when I post this we’ll be at home. At this point I’m looking forward to being home, because we had a 5.5 hour DELAY due to a strike of Italian flight personnel * sigh *. We entertained ourselves for 8 long hours with episodes of The O.C. on my notebook. That was after we spend 2 hours looking for a socket to connect the adapter to.

If you are ever going to fly from Leonardo da Vinci airport in Rome, do yourself a HUGE favor and make sure you have had a decent meal before arriving at the airport. Italian food is delicious, but the food on the airport is horrible.

Now I hope we get through customs with our loads of Italian Parmesan cheese, balsamico, coffee and olive oil. And ladies, you can stop hating me. I have only bought ONE pair of shoes. I have behaved very well.

We had a great trip. Rome is absolutely beautiful. I’ll post more about it later this weekend. With some of the many many many many many pictures we made.

OMG! The woman in front of me just shoved her flight meal in her purse. Ewww. That meal was not worth making your purse all stinky. Gross.

BTW: We got the food through custom without a problem. Tonight we’ll be enjoying a nice Italian salad mmmmm.

I'm still jealous--your posts are always so..so..European. ;-(

LOL There was a strike! That is so typically Italian it's not funny.

Honestly, if there's a strike while I'm there I won't even be fazed, it just seems to happen so much. When there's a strike in the US it's a huge deal. It think it's about as regular a sight in Italy now as the little Vespas.

You can take food home, we can't. The US has strict laws against produce.

Thanks for the advice about the airport food, I'll make sure I keep that in mind. I'm packing a lot of protein bars and stuff in my carry on... 9 hours on a flight (not including inevitable delays) and then having to get through the airport... yeah.

I can't wait to hear more!

I can't believe someone put a meal in their purse!

You should have taken a picture of it, and you could have put it up on www.airlinemeals.net LOL

Sounds absolutely fabulous! I am really happy for you. (and STILL jealous!) :)

Posted by: Robin at May 15, 2005 4:00 AM

well, yes. even in italy you still have to watch out for tourist trap restaurants...

Goodbye from Italy (i'm from Bologna). I'm happy you enjoyed your trip in Rome. :P

Good choise th Italian Parmesan! :-)

I'm sorry for the airport strike, we have it very often this year. :-/

Oh, an other thing: your blog is one of the most original blogs i've ever seen :-)

Aww I am so jealous of your holiday! And yes, you have the face of a tour guide!

Posted by: DaFFy at May 16, 2005 8:38 AM

am so jealous like everyone else. Perhaps you wil need a valet to accompany you next time? Just a thought.

Posted by: Rick at May 16, 2005 3:12 PM

What's wrong with saving your entree for later? Just kidding! I'm glad you had a great time, now please post the shoes :)

Posted by: Lauren at May 17, 2005 3:19 AM

I'm not surprised that customs let you through with all the food. I AM surprised they let you return with only ONE pair of shoes. Isn't it a requirement that you buy several pair?

Posted by: liz at May 17, 2005 12:36 PM

Glad you had fun..enjoy the good food.

Hooray! I just received your postcard here in Alabama! It's awesome and I appreciate you following through. My boys were entranced by the funky stamps.

(Not as much as my hubby was by The Shirt but that's another story...)

Ohmygod, I'm so jealous! Welcome back and I'm glad you had a great time. I would have totally brought back more edibles than shoes, and I really love shoes, so that's saying something.

More pictures... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!! I love Rome and dream about the day I get to go back. MORE MORE MORE!!! (So glad you had a great trip.)

My Dearest Sweety,

you would make a lovely tour guide. I want to go to Rome! Sorry to hear about your delay. 5.5 hours? That's horrendous. Sheesh! Mmmmmm... how was the Italian salad?

PS I am sorry I have been such a bad blogger friend. I have been swamped I tell ya. It has finally slowed down and now I have to get caught up on blog reading. Ok, is that ever possible??

Posted by: Chrishawn at May 20, 2005 12:02 AM

Ok, I have to post here cause it's past the 5 day limit on the other days.

1. Can I just say - OH.MY.GAWD - I love shoes. They make me swoon. *sigh*

2. Can also just say - you are so incredibly skinny - I hate you! No, seriously, can I have your body? Puhleeease?!!?!

3. Mr. Sweety is so incredibly ado.ra.ble. You too are so sweet. *double sigh*

4. Ok, I don't even like pistachio ice cream; but that waffle cone is looking pretty darn goooood!

5. Those flowers are pretty. Very.

6. ROFL, Mr Sweety looks a bit lost. Funny.

7. Ooooh, pretty fountain! Ok, now that's awesome!

Ok, done. *smile*

Did you know your baby or young toddler can "speak" to you even when (s)he hasn't learned the ability to speak yet? I found out through the blog of Chris that sign language is a GREAT way to enable your young child to communicate with you.

Our 12 month old little Roo knows a few signs already "done" (with eating), "more" (food or drink) and "book/ reading". It was a great succes with our toddler Monkey (now 3, doesn't stop talking but stopped using signs) and we already have so much fun with Roo.
