I'm Nadine. Mother to the Monkey (2 years) and his baby sister (born this January) and married to my wonderful loving husband FreezeM.. I was born August 8 1978, so I'm ... almost 30 (eeeek)! I work part time, although now I am enjoying my parental leave until this summer!

Dry, by Augusten Burroughs

My husband got me a new book from my favorite author Augusten Burroughs for Christmas. I can not wait to start reading it.

The China Study, by T. Colin Campbell.

A must reed for anyone intrested in food and nutrition. The book continues to be an eye opener. I never realized there was so many proof to what food can do to keep you healthy or that it can kill you. *****

Sellevision: A Novel, by Augusten Burroughs

I LOVE Augusten Burroughs. His books make me laugh out loud in a crowded public transport. Though slightly embarrising, it is nothing compared to what his characters go through in his books. *****

The guide

Monkey has been showing all signs of being ready to be potty trained a few months now. We deliberately waited until a few months after the birth of his baby sister, because that already was a big change in his life. But when he opened water TWICE this week on the ground on PURPOSE while I was getting his clothes, I decided to get the book out. The book had some great suggestions (at least, they sound great NOW, but when #2's fly through the air next week I might change my opinion).

This week? Is practice week (before we go hard core potty training next week, bwahaha I am afraid).

Monkey gets a small sticker for sitting on the potty for 5 to 10 minutes. A big sticker if he does a #1 or a #2. So far he only earned small stickers. He did try to cheat by claiming passing gas is worth a sticker too. Gas will not get you out of those Pampers, so I don't think so little buddy.

Oh good luck! We are on day three of pooping in the potty at Mia's own insistence.

Oh I don't envy you. I let my parents potty train mine.

Oh, I just love those stickers! The little ocean theme ones are so cute!

omg, am cracking up over the fact that he thought gas would garner the better loot!

Negotiating already...you've got your work cut out for you.

Good luck next week!!! :)

I won't let him talk to Susie, then. I've been giving her an ice cream every time she poops on the potty. I'm that desperate.

Good luck! the stickers alone didn't do anything for us...we had to offer a big reward. Like--get 5 big stickers in 5 days and you can go to McDonalds!

That did it :-)

Posted by: Alissa at April 23, 2008 2:08 PM

Hahahahaha! He's a smart one - and sometimes they're the ones that take the longest, unfortunately... (Too smart to do all the work themselves, see?)

Posted by: Madmad at April 25, 2008 3:33 AM

It always seemed like a big deal, but wasn't that bad. Just don't let him see you get upset over accidnents (then he figures out he has power and that's never good).

I think as long as you're consistent you'll be fine. Good luck!

Oh, wow! Sounds like some fun stuff right there. But it definitely looks like you're prepared! :)
