I'm Nadine. Mother to the Monkey (2 years) and his baby sister (born this January) and married to my wonderful loving husband FreezeM.. I was born August 8 1978, so I'm ... almost 30 (eeeek)! I work part time, although now I am enjoying my parental leave until this summer!

Dry, by Augusten Burroughs

My husband got me a new book from my favorite author Augusten Burroughs for Christmas. I can not wait to start reading it.

The China Study, by T. Colin Campbell.

A must reed for anyone intrested in food and nutrition. The book continues to be an eye opener. I never realized there was so many proof to what food can do to keep you healthy or that it can kill you. *****

Sellevision: A Novel, by Augusten Burroughs

I LOVE Augusten Burroughs. His books make me laugh out loud in a crowded public transport. Though slightly embarrising, it is nothing compared to what his characters go through in his books. *****

Hey internet people!

Hey internet people! Let me tell you a secret..

IMG_3895_1.jpg
Come on, a bit closer. I won't bite, I don't have teeth, remember!

IMG_3896_1.jpg
Good! The real reason my mom blogs so little is....

IMG_3897_2.jpg
I won't allow her on my computer! I'm addicted to teletubby website!

Happy weekend every one!

(PS: I know my mom is writing my birth story, she is almost finished. If she sings itsie bitsie spider a few times, I'll let her post it!)

She whispers...

Shhhhh.. I just came home from shopping and Tim is still asleep in his stroller.

So, this couldn’t be more random, but here it goes:

• I managed to get in the shower & get dressed BEFORE 9 AM today! * clap * * clap * *clap *
• Did you know everybody in the shop looks at you when you have a crying baby in your stroller? Especially when you are juggling with 3 packages of Pampers?
• I try to go outside for at least an hour a day. Usually I walk to the shopping street close to us (about a 20-minute walk). I become pretty good at bargain shopping.
• Today I even got a free shampoo! It’s supposed to give me r.e.s.p.e.c.t. Awesome! I wonder how it works... Pretty neat of Dove to hand out free respect don’t you think?

• We have decided to go and look at houses to buy. That means we totally have to leave the neighborhood we live in now (we rent). To give you an example of the outrageous house prices in our neighborhood: an average 2 bedroom apartment with a garden costs somewhat around 300,000 euros! I believe that’s about 330,000 US dollars INSANE. You don’t want to know what an entire house would cost you!
• Oh and baby milestones: Tim started drooling for the very first time a few days ago.
• Oh... I hear crying. Bye!

Having a baby turned my life upside down! Blogging fell out… and got lost

That’s my excuse for deserting you! (come on, it’s better than 'the cat ate my notebook'!)

It’s a bit embarrassing and I apologize. I don’t know how Mrs. Mogul &
Casey
manage to blog daily with a new born. Because Tim? He doesn’t nap! He doesn’t! Well, besides from the gazillion 10-minute catnaps that is. According to “your babies first year” (a great book!) a newborn sleeps like 16 to 20 hours a day. Tell that to Tim!

But I’m not complaining. Ever since he was born he wanted to sleep through the night. For a few weeks now he has been sleeping from 11 PM to 5 or 6 AM. I hear that is not how babies work normally.

But what have we been up to? Well, mainly all my time is devoted to little Tim. He’s more and more awake without crying. He’s smiling. He enjoys looking at things. He’s my life now. And I love it.

Other things?

- We’ve had many friends come over to meet Tim. That's a lot of fun, but also busy busy busy times.
- - Mr. Sweety has a new job! He now works 4 days a week. So when I’m at work, he’ll take care of Tim on Mondays. How cool is that? Congrats hon’, I'm SO proud of you!
- Also, we bought a car! Our last one died, I believe over a year ago. We got a Volkswagen Polo. Here’s a picture (It’s my favorite color yayy)

polo_blog.jpg

- And … I’ve been doing some homework. And you know what? I actually enjoy it! When I got time to do it, that is.

But ladies.. I have a question that’s in my mind for some time now:
In how many weeks after giving birth should I be able to fit my old clothes again? Or when is it safe to go shopping again? I went shopping 2 weeks ago. VERY frustrating! I spend a few hours shopping, and I ended up buying clothes. For TIM! Not for me.

I have not forgotten the question for a question game we played many many weeks ago.. Here are my answers:

Trine: What you are going to be when you grow up? Hmm. I would have to say I hope to be a good mom. I also hope to have a career in Communications (that’s what I study at university at the moment). But I haven’t ruled out fulltime mom. Money wise that isn’t an option right now. Not if we want to live the way we do now.

Lisa:If money wasn't an option, where would be your dream vacation and why?A trip around the world. Starting in Scandinavie, then a cross country trip through the US, spend a few weeks island hopping on Hawai’i, visit South Africa (where my father was born), enjoy beaches & Barcelona in Spain, wine and dine in Italy, visit Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand and than back home.

Swiss Fondue and Cory ask: Why the name "Sweety"? Well, I believe in 1996 I was at college. I was installing ICQ and had to choose a nickname. I couldn’t think of any name… and I was eating sweets, and .. well…there you go: Sweety.
Mr. Sweety was there too, and I bet he would have made me pick another name if he had known he would be Mr. Sweety one day!

Dana: Do you want more children and if so how many? Yes! We would like to have 3 children. But ask again in a few months ;)

Zandria what kind of baby/pregnancy/new-mother advice have you received, and is there anything that you absolutely would not follow?I have had SO many advice. Hmm. I know! We were told to wake up Tim to feed him at night. HAHA. Crazy. If the baby sleeps, let him sleep!

Rick: My question to ponder is where did you get your amazing command of English?First: thank you! I’m flattered. Here in The Netherlands we get English classes when we’re like 10 or so. That and watching cartoons on Sky channel. I think Inspector Gadget teached me English!

Deb: Any thoughts on moving to the US pemanently? Not just thoughts Deb. If Mr. Sweety finds a job in the US that can support our family, we’ll take the first flight! It’s our dream.

Nicole: How do you like Running With Scissors?Well, to be honest, I opened the book, to read it. For some reason I had to put it aside for a minute and never got the chance to actually start reading it. I’ll let you know when I do finally finish it.

Cory also asked: Are you going to be answering these questions in a blog entry?? Eventually... yes!

For all of those who wanted to know if iBaby was a boy/ girl and what is name is going to be.. well you all probably have read that by now.

I’m SO sorry for posting this late. But hey.. I was kinda busy with this little guy (I’m hoping you’ll forgive me when I post this picture ;)
