Our weekend

We did a lot this weekend, but this definately was the most special moment. We started weaning him. I was just as nervous about it, as when we first took him outside.
Tim didn't really love or hate it. He just thought it was weird. Do you know how far he can sneeze the babyrice out again?

Bye bye
UPDATE July 18th:Eventhough I've tested my new design on Windows Explorer, for some reason it's totally screwed up now. I'm sorry! I will look into it a.s.a.p.. I wish everybody had Apple. * sighs *
I did it! I virtually killed Sweety.
The secret is out: I’m Nadine! Thank you all for playing! Deb guessed it right. Yay!
I thought I’d treat myself to a new design too. I’m pretty happy how it turned out. It's still a bit slow.. am working on that. If you've set your skin to another than the default, please click here.
Now about the hints I gave ya….
• You might see my name in the hurricane news this year (I hope not!).
I’ m a tropical entity. How exotic does that sound?
• My name is not typical Dutch, I’m pretty sure you hear it in every country.
Do you?
• You might know one of me already!
I’ve only met 2 in person!
• The meaning of my name is one thing everybody should have. Always. In any situation.
It means hope!
• In the seventies a song was named after me.
OMG. My bad. It was 1964, Chuck Berry’s Nadine.
• In the eighties an American movie was named after me.
I don’t think it really was a blockbuster.
Bye bye Sweety! It was a pleasure.

Guessing game!
I have BIG news.
OK, sort of.
As of somewhere next week, I’ll be blogging with my real name. Only my first name though. I still don’t want people to google my full name and find my blog.
I’m kinda tired of Sweety. I had that nick for about 10 years now. I grew out of it.
But before I reveal it………. I’m curious what YOU think my real name is!

Do I look like a .....?
I’ll give you some hints:
• You might see my name in the hurricane news this year (I hope not!).
• My name is not typical Dutch, I’m pretty sure you hear it in every country.
• You might know one of me already!
• The meaning of my name is one thing everybody should have. Always. In any situation.
• In the seventies a song was named after me.
• In the eighties an American movie was named after me.
• If you google my first name you’ll get 24,200,000 results. Among those you’ll find: a Nobel price winner, a girl who advertises her (very big) boobage and even a weekend named after me.
Some of you already know my name: sssssssh! Don’t spoil it!

We got it!
We got the house!! I cannot believe it!
I'll update soon. Woohoo!
July 12, 2006
Crossing fingers
We made an offer on a house today!
However…. So did 4 other people.
On the same house!
It’s a ground floor apartment. A lovely garden. 3 bedrooms, a medium sized bathroom. Has beautiful old details like stained glass windows.
It has only been on the market for a couple of days.
We made a relatively high offer, very close to the price they asked. But now I wonder if we shouldn’t have made a higher offer.
We’re supposed to hear more tomorrow. They will either negotiate price with on of 5 people that made an offer or invite all 5 to what we call an “inschrijving”. It’s when all 5 of us bring a closed envelope with our highest nonnegotiable offer. The owner of the house will either choose the highest offer or the one with less terms.
Keep all your fingers crossed!!
UPDATE at 12:41 (July 13)It's going to be an "inschrijving". All people who made an offer have to e-mail their highest offer and terms by 4 PM this afternoon. By this evening we'll know who gets the house. We're now thinking how much we should offer.
I'm SO nervous.

Dot dot dot
• I got an 8 for this year’s final school exam (internal organization communication). I was really worried I screwed it, but it turned out just fine. I’m SO relieved. One year to go, and still on my way to graduate with honor! Yayyy! But now: SUMMER BREAK!
• Tim has dropped a feeding. Up until this weekend, he had 6 feedings a day. Now he does it with only 5. Since it takes me half an hour to feed him, I suddenly have more time. Can you imagine he used to have 8 feedings? Like up until he was 3 months? I spend (and enjoyed) 4 hours a day, feeding my precious little boy.
• Tomorrow we’re going to look at 3-bedroom ground floor apartment with a garden. It’s in a nice neighborhood, about a 15 minute walk from where we live now. However, it’s like the leas nicest street in the area. Oh well, can’t have it all when you’re looking to buy for a reasonable price.
• Italy won the world soccer cup, woohoo! Italy was my favorite, after The Netherlands. We watched a lot of the soccer games. I’m usually NOT a sports type. Don’t do it, don’t watch it. But the World Cup, I really enjoyed. And don’t start about that awful Dutch - Portugal game. *sighs*

Our weekend
Celebrating 4th of July AND Canada day with our friends.

The 2nd anual Can-AM BBQ party! It was quit an international party with people from the US, Canada, Portugal, The Netherlands, Cameroen, England, Korea, Spain and I think I even heard an Australian accent. Ofcourse we also had to talk a little soccer (the infamous Dutch - Portugal game).
We actually never heard of Canada day, but apperently it's Indepence day, just like in the US. The weather was really great and Tim enjoyed himself. Usually he doesn't really like lots of people, but he had a very nice time. And when Tim has a nice time: his parents have a nice time.
I hope you all had a great weekend!

My sweet little Tim,

Please, don't let me find you like this anymore. It worries me beyond words. It's better for you to sleep on your back. Trust me.
Love,
Mom
