Men and machines
So, the hubby, or FreezeM if you like, is vacuum cleaning. As we speak.
With our new vacuum cleaner. We killed our old one, trying to vacuum away renovation dust & dirt of our new house.
He spend two weeks - or three - finding the perfect vacuum cleaner. And, like every man, he is very serious about buying machines.
And his efforts paid off: he has found his dream machine. With all kinds of special air cleaning filters. FreezeM calls it the Maserati of vacuum cleaners.
In fact, it’s an overpriced Miele. But it’s light weighted and it has a silence option. With is I guess pretty handy, especially when Tim’s asleep and I want to clean.
But there is nothing nifty about vacuum cleaning. Not matter how cool the damn thing looks.
As I am writing this, A FreezeM has gone off to his PC and left our new Maserati in the middle of the living room. Leaving me with the words ‘I left it in parking mode for you.’
Thank you honey.
(This posts sounds way to sarcastic. I know he will drive his 'Maserati'. He’s like that.)

One night last week, we woke up around 3 AM…
Tim crying
FreezeM: mmmrmmr
Me: Hmm…
Tim crying
FreezeM: it’s your turn
Me: I thought we didn’t do turns. It’s the first time you say that.
FreezeM: Yep, and it’s your turn.
Tim: crying
Me: OK…
Tim crying
FreezeM: well…
...
Me: hold on….
Tim: silent
…
….
Me: I used telepathy.
FreezeM: What?
Me: I used telepathy. Tomorrow is your turn. Good night :)
Stick something on your head day
Chris asked his readers to post a picture with something on their head. As I love crazy little ideas; I got the whole family to participate. A relatively boring - but cute - photo of us with our winter hats.

Before we decided to just go with the plain hats, we tried to stick Tim on our head. Resulting in a gazillion shots like this one:

You try sticking a toddler on your own head.
One!
Finally an update! First, thank you all for your sweet comments on the previous post. That was totally awesome. You all rock!
Tim's first birthday party was a blast! We had so much fun. We gave - as some of you suggested - Tim his own piece of - smash - cake. But he didn't smash it! He ate, and ate, and ate, untill it was gone.
I baked 3 cakes: a big chocolate 1, a white chocolate and a cheesecake. They all turned out just great.
Tim got terribly spoiled. Enough toys to last him another year.
Here are some pics, and (finally) his one year letter.

And now his letter:
Your first year
My sweetest Tim,
When you walk towards me with that big smile, it’s hard to imagine you were born just a year ago. You have grown and learned so much since you first entered this word. Now you crawl, walk, play. You have your favorite toys, foods, activities and people. You love your mommy and daddy. You also adore your grandma’s. You make me so happy when you reach for me and want me to hold you.
You’re still drinking from a bottle, three times a day. I know I should probably get you to drink from a beaker. But part of me wants you to be a baby. And yet, another part of me want to see you grow and turn into the next fase: toddlerhood.
You’re a happy baby. Even when your teething, tired or hungry, you don’t really show it. You like to cuddle, and we love to cuddle you right back. You want to do things yourself. You have to have your own spoon when we’re eating, otherwise you just won’t eat. I love that about you. You also do things like turning the pages of the book we’re reading. And brushing your teeth. All four of them ☺
You’ll eat just about anything. You love your oatmeal & banana in the morning. It really gets messy. Food gets in your hair, spoons fly in the air. But I don’t care. You’re trying to learn to eat. And that’s just the cutest thing.
You made your first step just days before your first birthday. The days prior to that, you were trying to stand. And that day, January 26, you stood, looked at me and made one step towards me. Than you sat and crawled to me. My heart just melted.
You still sleep very good. Normally you sleep from 7 PM to 7.30 AM or even 8 AM. Sometimes 8.30 AM. Your mommy and daddy want to thank you for that! When you wake up, we hear you play with your stuffed animals for a while. We hear you laugh. And the best part is coming into your room and you greet us with that big smile.
I have to think really hard about things you don’t like. But there are two. Now and than you hate getting a diaper change. You scream so loud, I think people in other continents can hear it! Also, you don’t like when I want to let you play in your playpen. Which ofcourse results in me never putting you in your playpen. But the diaper changes are kind off necessary. So bad luck for you there, little baby.
This year was the most intense, beautiful one ever. A year in which not only you have grown, but you made me grow too. You gave me calm and brought sense to my world. And that’s such a big accomplishment for a little person like you.
You’re a perfect little baby. I’m grateful your part of my world.
Love,
mom.
BTW: Are you hungry?
(totally showing off the cake)
