My big best friend

I can't help myself. I'm experiencing some greediness here... please can someone go up there and get me some of that diamond?

"You would need a jeweller’s loupe the size of the Sun to grade this diamond,"

"It’s the mother of all diamonds," said Dr Metcalfe.

If I could only find a ring to go with it..

99 teachers in school

What's with the stabbing and shooting???

A male teacher was stabbed by a 35-year-old man in an Amsterdam school on Friday. On 13 January, deputy head master Hans van Wieren was shot dead by a pupil in a school in The Hague.

Hello, can we please stop killing our teachers no? We already have a shortage of teachers in The Netherlands. Jeee. Think people.

Oh boy...

I'm not sure how classmates in other countries react to the fact that a student killed their teacher. But here...

Claiming the suspect had no option but to shoot the teacher, one of the pupils said: "He (the suspect) was one of us and he never even hurt a fly".

Read the article..

This is insane. I have no words for it.

No Ferris Bueller trick..

What would YOU do if you were suspended? This high school kid thought it was necessary to kill his teacher for it. Although our country has higher crime rates every year, this news sort of comes as a shocking surprise. It all happened in the city we lived in untill a month ago (The Hague).

I think teachers are almost saints. They get shitty payment & shitty teenage students. And they still teach the kids in the best way they can. I'll admit when I was in High School there where a few teachers I hated didn't like, but shooting them never crossed my mind.

It's a shame. The teacher is not dead yet, but he's shot in the head so I don't think he'll be doing his biology class any time soon.. I guess that means a longer life for some frogs out there...

Go play with Elmo!

I was in shock when I read this article about a 5 year old dutch boy, sexually abusing his classmates. How can a 5 year old have such crazy behaviour?? His parents?

Nadine recommends

Did you know your baby or young toddler can "speak" to you even when (s)he hasn't learned the ability to speak yet? I found out through the blog of Chris that sign language is a GREAT way to enable your young child to communicate with you.

Our 12 month old little Roo knows a few signs already "done" (with eating), "more" (food or drink) and "book/ reading". It was a great succes with our toddler Monkey (now 3, doesn't stop talking but stopped using signs) and we already have so much fun with Roo.

We used this book:

But there are more tools that help you
