I'm Nadine. Mother to the Monkey (2 years) and his baby sister (born this January) and married to my wonderful loving husband FreezeM.. I was born August 8 1978, so I'm ... almost 30 (eeeek)! I work part time, although now I am enjoying my parental leave until this summer!

Dry, by Augusten Burroughs

My husband got me a new book from my favorite author Augusten Burroughs for Christmas. I can not wait to start reading it.

The China Study, by T. Colin Campbell.

A must reed for anyone intrested in food and nutrition. The book continues to be an eye opener. I never realized there was so many proof to what food can do to keep you healthy or that it can kill you. *****

Sellevision: A Novel, by Augusten Burroughs

I LOVE Augusten Burroughs. His books make me laugh out loud in a crowded public transport. Though slightly embarrising, it is nothing compared to what his characters go through in his books. *****

My sweetest husband,

My mind is full of loving words for you. But I'll just say, this last year was the best of my life. Thanks for being my husband, the father of our son and just for being you.

Forever yours,

My best friend’s wedding

Tomorrow is my best friend’s wedding. We've know eachother for almost 15 years. (I feel SO old right now!).

Maybe you remember her: her fiancé popped the question during the break of a SOCCER game.

She said NO. OFCOURSE!! What was he thinking, silly man.

He did learn from his mistake and tried again a few months later. This time he asked her in a small romantic little church in beautiful Venice, Italy.

Now that is pretty romantic. So I believe, he made up for his mistake. What do you think girls?

Anyways, she’ll say I DO tomorrow. She initially thought it was fun to marry June 6. You know: 6-6-2006. She’s not a Christian or superstitious, but when I said that 666 is kinda like already someone else’s favorite number, she changed the date.

I’m really excited for her. She’s been with soccer man for over 8 years now. So it’s about time.

And what coincidence she’s marrying during the Soccer World Cup 2006. Or is it..?

Happy Bday me!

I turned 27 today!

For some crazy I like 27 more than 26. So I'm actually happy I came one step closer to 30 today :) Bye bye 26.

Many of you ask the reason I dissapeared for a month. Just one more day I have to keep you in suspense. Tomorrow I will reveal our secret. You can still guess at Mr. Sweety's blog.

Happy birthday Mr. Sweety!

Mr. Sweety hit 29 today! :) And he's feelin A LOT better than yesterday.

He did spend half the night in the toilet.. and ended up sleeping the other half on the couch because he didn't want me not sleeping because he had to rub noses with the toilet.

How on earth will I explain to him, that on the one night we didn't sleep together.. I spend the night with Mac. Will he ever forgive me?

Happy bday toooooooooo...

Today I turned 26! And Moby (our cat) turned 2!

We celebrated it yesterday evening with a lovely dinner at Ludieck restaurant (ludiek = ludicrous). It was awesome. Excellent food and service! They even offered us a steak from a massaged & manicured cow. Poor Bella.

A couple of weeks ago I had a HUGE Jessica Simpson blond moment:

Me: I’m already 26! *sigh*
Mr. Sweety: No you’re not.
Me: I am too!
Mr. Sweety: You’re 25.
Me: I am?
Mr. Sweety: Do the math, you were born in 1978.
Me: (counting)
Me: Yayyyyyyy! I get to stay 26 this year!

So today I’ve done the impossible, I’ve not aged for a year. It must be magic. Whatever it is, I’ll put it in a bottle and it’s going to make me millions. I’m taking orders now!

Birthday girl!

Cocktail, not the movie

Saturday night we celebrated our friend’s birthday with a dinner at a jazz club here in The Hague. The birthday girl, Mel, choose the restaurant for the music & the cocktails.

Please read the sign carefully. What does it say about cocktails? Remember that!!

We had to walk 2 stairs up to find an almost empty restaurant. Umm… Is that like an omen? If it wasn’t for the good live music we would have left.

When the waitress came, she asked what we wanted to drink. We ordered Cosmopolitans.
“I’m sorry, but cocktails are not served at this moment. At 10 or 11 the bartender will be here and he’ll make them for you”.

A bit disappointing, since they advertise with cocktails (ah the sign!). So we asked for a menu to see what other drinks they had. She brings the menu and there a like 5 cocktails on it, including the Cosmopolitan. Funny.

Umm maybe I didn’t read that correct. Let me put on some (one else’s) glasses. Uhm, no it says c.o.c.k.t.a.i.l.s.

We decide to give up on the cocktails and go for a Kir Royal.

“Do you know how to make them?” the waitress asked when we ordered them.

Mel is like the queen of cocktails (I know Kir Royal is not a cocktail shut up) so she helped the waitress make the Kir Royal. They actually were very good. Go Mel!

At about 10 PM we see the bartender. We’re SO excited! Cocktails finally!!

We order 4 Cosmopolitans. The waitress comes back and says the bartender won’t make them. He supposedly needed an extra half hour to get ready. She admits to having had an argument with him over this but he’s refusing to make us cocktails.

…EE E E Excuse me?

Again the waitress (she was really sweet though) offers to make them with our help. So Mel made us Cosmopolitans. I think she was a bartender in a past life.

Mel is on the left you can hardly see her, she's behind the coffee machine, she's really there, REALLY, she’s there making us all Cosmopolitans.

Besides the cocktails (or lack of them):

• The food was extremely mediocre (let this be an advise for tourists, don’t come to this club for the food or cocktails!) and had all the ingredients we had asked to leave OUT.

• They asked us 50 cents for the use of the toilet. We refused to pay, how rude is it to ask 50 cents for the toilet on a 130 euro bill??

• Mel bumped into the manager at some point. He asked if she’d enjoyed the dinner. She says “well, to be honest, not really”. He then said nothing and passed her. How rude can you be???

Although this dinner was not a success, we did have a lot of fun! We’re just never going to eat there again. Ever. Even for Dutch standards this was pretty bad.

And if you did read the sign and you’re wondering; No, there was no live French kissing either ;)

That's us.. somewhere ;)
